Eat Mushrooms
I want you to eat mushrooms and die.
A book of questions about language, consciousness, evolution, art, and the strange work of being human — written, designed and built end to end, with a site that treats the book as a specimen.

Overview
The book starts from one sentence and keeps asking what it carries. The site does the same thing in three dimensions: a single mushroom, lit like a museum specimen, that turns as you scroll while the eight words of the title are taken apart around it.

The challenge
A title this blunt can read as a joke. The site had to earn it: slow the reader down, make the sentence strange again, and get them to the first page of the book before they decide what it is.

The approach
Treat it like a natural-history plate rather than a book launch.
- 01One 3D specimen that rotates with the scroll instead of a stack of product shots
- 02A paper, ink and rust palette taken from the printed cover
- 03Field-note captions that annotate the title word by word
- 04A page-flip reader so the first chapter opens right on the page
Cover, reader and closing

The result
A book and a site that feel like the same object: quiet, a little unsettling, and impossible to skim.
