Product, brand, and build for Steady — a voice rehearsal space where new managers practise the conversation before they have it for real.
Overview
Steady was built for a Shipaton brief about leadership: newly promoted managers, often managing people who were their peers last month, with nowhere safe to practise the hard conversations. You pick a workplace scenario, speak to an AI counterpart who answers back in real time, and receive a structured debrief and a growth profile afterwards.

The challenge
The brief described people rehearsing in the shower, or with family, and then bottling it at work. A script generator would not fix that. The product had to be a simulator: a counterpart who gets guarded, pushes back, or softens depending on what you actually say, and feedback that never invents a score it cannot justify.
Our approach
We designed Steady to feel like the quiet before a difficult moment. The interface is strictly monochrome over deep night navy, with lunar artwork and constellations standing in for people, Fraunces for the human lines and Jost for the instrument panel. Nothing is gamified and nothing is scripted.

The hard part
A voice agent that plays a person is easy to break. Early on, the counterpart would say its private reasoning out loud, or stay guarded for a whole conversation however well you handled it. Most of the last days went into making the emotional arc actually respond to the speaker, and into the unglamorous work of shipping to two app stores: consent, account deletion, and a full audit before release.
The outcome
Ten days from brief to builds on iOS and Android, from one shared codebase. Steady is small and deliberate: one job, done calmly, for people who are about to walk into a room and would like to have said it once already.
